Smooshed in a Cupcake
Pier One had a commercial years ago that was the cutest thing ever. This Christmas cupcake would speak in the Rug Rats voice and talk to customers who wanted to buy it. Taryn would play the commercial for her English Bulldog, Ruby Jewel, and Ruby would cock her head side to side and watch it over and over, it was so cute! Taryn loved the penguin. She showed me Ruby watching the commercial and I recently watched the video of it. It's my new symbol of Christmas. I found one on Ebay the first part of December in 2017, the year she died. I felt like Taryn was sending me a Christmas present. I feel like that a lot, that she sends me things as gifts when I find something special with deep meaning like this. That year when I was sitting in my living room watching my two sons, Garrison and Christian, playing with their babies I got the overwhelming feeling that Taryn was there with us. Holding Kayan, her little boy, and smiling watching the family together. Every moment, every smile and every sweetness we feel she's there too. She is woven into the fabric of who we all are. Love is like that. Like light. It just becomes part of what it shines through. I'm grateful for this penguin, my new symbol of Christmas. I will miss Taryn during the holidays every year they come and go but I know she's never far away from us.
